"Dancing with the Cougars" will continue with another dance class for the community featuring a swing dance class from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. April 12 in Studio 34, and all proceeds will go to support Barton Dance Theatre's trip to dance in New York City.

Barton Dance Instructor and Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator Danika Bielek said the class will start with the basics of swing dance, then touch on the different dances developed from the swing dance, including disco.

"So many of the social dances we do today have a little swing in them," she said. "The class on April 12 will teach steps that can be used when dancing to a variety of types of music and with or without a partner. It's going to be a fun workout, too,"

Barton Dance student, Dance Team, and Dance Theatre member Rylee Ayon said she is appreciative of the community's support for their New York City dance trip.

"With the support from the community, fellow dancers, and the Barton dance company (Barton Dance Theatre), I am super excited to gain knowledge and passion for dance and expose myself to a greater and higher purpose. While in New York, we will be able to take classes with professional companies and even dance next to professional dancers. We look forward to this amazing, once-in-a-lifetime offer and are very thankful for the help and support we are receiving. "For more information, contact Bielek at [email protected] or call (620) 792-9253. Admission is $15 per person or $20 per couple at the door.
