The Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for the “Harnessing Consciousness: Joel T. Dugan” exhibit from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 6.  The reception will be preceded by a live painting demonstration from 2-4 p.m. presented by Dugan, which will focus on the process of portrait work.

Shafer Art Gallery Director Dave Barnes said the narratives in Dugan’s work evoke the imagination.

Barton Community College’s Silver Cougar Club will offer a continuation course on Google Drive from 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays, March 4 – April 8, at the Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main St. in Great Bend.  The first course is not required to enroll in this course.

Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan., has named 225 students to the President’s List for the fall 2014 semester.  To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan., has named 261 students to the Dean’s List for the fall 2014 semester.  To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Two candidates have been identified for the opening of the Barton Community College Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, which oversees the Barton Foundation.

Lindsey Bogner of Hoisington and Steve Webster of Great Bend will be introduced to the Barton Community College employees and the public at two upcoming forums.

Bogner’s forum is scheduled for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Feb. 17.

Webster’s forum is scheduled for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Feb. 19.

Barton Community College’s relationship with the US Army is as long as it is strong, celebrating more than 30 years of “serving those who serve.”

Barton is once again officially recognized as a top “military friendly” school for 2015, as designated by Military Advanced Education, a publication highlighting education opportunities at installations across the country and beyond. Barton is featured as a Top School in the 2015 edition of the MAE Guide to Colleges and Universities.

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be a daunting task, but Barton Community College’s Financial Aid Department will offer students and parents free assistance in making sure the application is filled out correctly.  Barton is participating in a national initiative “College Goal Sunday,” from 2-4 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Learning Resource Center on the Barton County campus.
